3 Things I HATE About Hmong Culture

I’m an advocate for embracing and sharing the Hmong culture with our children. Obviously. That's why HmongBaby exists and that's why I so often talk about the beauty of the Hmong culture. I truly believe it is valuable and worth keeping. That being said, I also believe that not ALL aspects of the Hmong culture are worth preserving. There are things about the Hmong culture that really frustrate me. Hmong culture, just like every culture, is both beautiful and broken. I want to share with you 3 things that I hate about Hmong culture. And yes. I said HATE. 1. I hate that women are seen as 2nd class citizens. I remember going to a party for one of my...

Depression and Suicide: How I Chose Life

My mom used to teach me and my sisters songs every night. We’d be up and about singing and dancing. My parents also used to play a music video of a Hmong woman singing for us. We watched her over and over and over again. She’d always be singing in a bed of flowers. My sisters and I would point to her on the screen fighting over which image of her we were. Here they are :) I'm so happy with how the books turned out! The quality of these books are outstanding and I'm so excited to share them with you! To all of you who preordered the book: THANK YOU...

Thanks everyone who came to my Book Release Party in Minnesota on Saturday, June 2nd! I appreciate you!  The truth is, the Book Release Party almost didn't happen! Here's the story: Last Wednesday, I got an email telling me that we wouldn’t receive the book until Monday, June 4th. I was like, “No!!! I have my Book Release Party on Saturday! I need my books ASAP! What am I going to do???”I calmed down and thought about what options I had. I messaged the shipping company and asked if they could expedite the delivery of my books to Friday since I had a book event on Saturday. The company got back to me on Thursday night telling me that they will...
